Adventure Engagement Sessions, no doubt, come with the best memories. Elizabeth and Jake’s session at Davis Mountain State Park was surely no exception. When we arrived in Fort Davis, we met for dinner and drinks at Blue Mountain Bar and Grill before we dropped our things off at the Indian Lodge in the park. Before we could even enter our adobe room, our first wildlife encounter took place when I saw something moving in the shadows. After 6 hours of driving and a cocktail, I decided I wanted to see exactly what our little friend might be. So, I followed our friend around the corner, fully expecting him to be long gone…only to be met by a skunk only five feet away from me, TAIL UP. I abandoned that mission really fast, and totally learned my lesson to not follow wildlife at night time.
We then proceeded to drive up to the top of the mountain, where we waited in the dark for the moon to set so we could attempt star photos. It is a beautiful and sometimes and eerie feeling to be surrounded by nature in complete darkness. But also, so, so beautiful. Liz and Jake toughed it out through the cold and dark for some out of this world photos…and I’m so glad they trusted the vision.
The next morning, we woke up before sunrise, bundled up, grabbed breakfast at the little cafe in the lodge, and then headed off for a sunrise hike together. We had the best time hiking, rock climbing, and hanging out with the mountain goats. We also saw a hog the size of a bear. I am not fully convinced that it wasn’t actually a bear…but others got a closer look than I did, so I guess I will go with their judgement. Our trip did not lack in the wildlife sightings!
After our hiking adventure, Liz got glammed up by Glam on Demand in our adobe room while sipping on champagne. Our photo session started off at Fort Davis National Historic Site and ended at the top of Skyline Drive in Davis Mountain State Park, with the best views, and a celebratory champagne pop.
Liz and Jake’s April wedding in Rocky Mountain National Park can not come soon enough! Can’t wait to make even more memories with these two!
